Moldova continues to take significant steps in its energy transition, registering monthly increases in the installed capacity of renewable energy sources (RES). By the end of February 2025, the total installed capacity reached 646.12 MW, marking an increase of 28.25 MW compared to January of the current year. Photovoltaic installations account for 67% of the total installed capacity, followed by wind installations (29%), hydro (3%), and biogas (1%).

The continued growth of renewable energy generation capacity reflects the country’s commitment to integrating alternative sources into the national energy mix. The increasing share of renewable energy confirms progress towards achieving the target of 27% of gross final energy consumption by 2030, in line with European Union policies and international agreements to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The implementation of Law No. 10/2016 has opened new opportunities for the development of the renewable energy sector, contributing to the diversification of energy sources, reducing reliance on imports, and enhancing energy security. The results achieved so far demonstrate the success of this legislation, strengthening energy security and promoting a more sustainable and secure energy model.
