Energy efficiency

This study is developed to support the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Moldova in implementing energy efficiency measures and promoting the use of renewable energy sources in the residential and individual household sector, as well as to support the implementation of the UNDP-funded study "Guide for the Implementation of Energy Efficiency Measures and the Use of Renewable Energy Sources in the Residential Sector".

Its purpose is to provide:

• a brief description of primary and secondary legislation in the field of energy efficiency relevant to the implementation and promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the residential and individual household sector;

• identification and description of the main energy efficiency measures and use of renewable energy sources that can be implemented in multi-apartment residential buildings and individual households;

• basic principles for identifying and prioritizing potential energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources applicable to multi-apartment residential buildings and individual households;

• description of the main steps for implementing an energy efficiency and renewable energy project in the residential sector;

• estimation of the costs of potential energy efficiency and renewable energy measures. The costs are estimated and presented for relevant potential measures that can be implemented in multi-apartment residential buildings and individual households;

• description of the technical and economic aspects of project evaluation for energy efficiency. Principles and relevant indicators, calculation methods;

• recommendations on maintenance and post-implementation management of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in the residential sector.
